Tamil Nadu Jain Tirth Yatra

Based on three days Yatra to Tamil Nadu Jain Tirth by Jain group Bangalore , below are details of route , Kshetra where stay is available along with the contacts.

A quick check list before you start your travel ,
  • Carry a phone with internet access and GPS enabled , it will definitely help you . Vodafone network is available through villages from Arihantgiri to Ponnur malai . People don't understand hindi or english , as you will be travelling mostly through villages.
  • Check weather information for Arihantgiri , Ponnur Malai,Kanchipuram and MalShitamur .
  • For people who don't eat in night , please carry a box full luchai(poori :) and masala namak etc . 
  • Please put request for food in advance on each matt/Kshetra you are are travelling to .
  • In Tamil temple is called as "Kovil" . Jain Temple = Jain Kovil (Tamil) , it helped in case if you lost and need to check with locals.
  • Carry print out of this document , it has good number of contacts, who can understand/speak hindi and help you.

1.   Bangalore To ArihantGiri ( Distance 250 Km, )

Historical Details and Importance: Thirumalai is also known as Arhatsugiri (Arihantgiri). The hill has 140 steps. An 18 feet high idol of Bhagwan Neminath (known here as Shikha Maninath) is seen on the top of the hill. It is believed that if one applies the holy water (gandhodak) many diseases could be cured.Last 'Shrutkevali' Bhadrabahu and 8000 saits stayed at this place and did meditation, Swadhyay, etc. Very old caves still exisits here. More than 100 Granth (Religious books), written on Tadpatra (Tree leaves) are available to be seen here. A Gurukul (Hostel school) is run by the Digambar Jain trust. Facilities: Arihantgiri Kshetra Matt has good dharamshala and can accommodate 200+ person . North Indian food can also availed on request in advance. 

2.   ArihantGiri To Ponur Malai (Diatance 46 Km )

Historical Details and Importance: The Ponnur Hills Tapo Bhumi Nilayam Teerth Kshetra is more then 2000 years ancient Kshetra, situated in Tiruvannamalai District of Tamilnadu State and is surrounded by natural beauty. This place is Tapo Bhumi of great & brilliant Digamber Jain ‘Acharya Bhagawat Kund Kund Dev’.
Facalities: Ponur Malai is good Place for Night halt , It has a good capacity of 30-50 people who can stay in dhramshala at 108 SHRI KUND KUND SYADHVAD DIGAMBAR JAIN TRUST.  North Indian food can also availed on request in advance.

4. Ponnur Malai and Mel Chitamur (Distance 48 Km)

 Facalities: Melchitamur  Matt do have dharamshala/ bhojanshala facility .  At  a 30-40 person can be accomodated in Matt. Bhojanshala serve only south Indian food.
